Molly Trubody is the brain behind Studio Hexen, a one-woman business creating handmade, vegan-friendly bags. A fashion lover and tattoo collector, we spoke with Molly about the brand and her inspirations...
Have you always been interested in fashion and design?
For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be in the fashion industry. I found my path when I went to University; it got me really excited about designing and making. That’s where I learnt most of my skills but then became self taught when it comes to making bags as it’s slightly different.
When did you realise you wanted to begin making your own accessories?
Actually it was in lockdown! I know it was a terrible time but I wouldn’t have gone self employed if it wasn’t for it. I was working full-time as a barista making coffee so when covid hit I was at home all the time and out of work. I’ve always made bags for myself so thought why not try to make a business out of it and see if it works. I had nothing to lose and all the time in the world.
Have you always been interested in tattoos and collecting them for yourself?
I’ve been getting tattooed now for 12 years and initially wanted a couple here and there with plenty of space between. However what they say is true and it gets ADDICTIVE. The more you get the more you want so now I’m going until I am totally covered. I’ve slowed down a lot though due to having not much space left on my body (which is probably a good thing for my bank balance).
When not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
At the moment most of my time is spent training our puppy Aggie. She’s a bull mastiff rescue and only 9 weeks old so is taking up a lot of our time and energy. It’s totally worth it though and I can’t recommend rescuing a dog enough.
In between puppy training I mostly spend my down-time either in coffee shops, reading or creating content for my insta.
